About

Brennan Construction has been in existence for over 100 years. The company that was started by two brothers in the early 1900's has met the challenges of the past century and is now in the hands of the 3rd, going on 4th, generation of family ownership.

With a commitment to safety, integrity, and quality, Brennan Construction has worked diligently to serve both public and private clients in the heavy civil construction industry for more than a century. Countless individuals and employees have helped Brennan Construction be successful to this point, and we believe that our loyalty to all past, current, and future employees will allow Brennan Construction to maintain that success into the future.

Brennan Construction began as a partnership between two brothers, Gene and Jim Brennan. The Brennan Bros., as the pair became known, began their partnership with an array of jobs including threshing oats, cutting and sawing timber, and pouring concrete flatwork.

An early document signifying the working relationship between Gene and Jim is this tax form from 1918 for the payment of taxes from the Brennan Bros. to Allamakee County.

When the projects the Brennan Bros. took on got larger and the crew members more numerous, the duo decided to incorporate their business and Brennan Brothers Construction was formed around the year 1919.

In 1959, Gene and Jim decided to split the company. Jim incorporated a construction company in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Gene remained in Lansing, Iowa and continued under the name Brennan Construction Company, Inc. Upon his son's return from service with the Army during the Korean War, Gene stepped down as President and handed the company to his children.
